Manifest and Unmanifest forms of Worship in Hinduism

Hinduism worships the same god or goddess in both manifest and unmanifest forms. This sometimes creates a confusion with not just the uninitiated people, but also with the not so knowledgeable Hindus themselves.
 
Take the case of Laxmi, the goddess of wealth. Laxmi is worshipped as the goddess of wealth by general Hindus. However, there are several Hindus who worship Laxmi as the Supreme Goddess of this universe, one who existed from the beginning of time and is the source and cause of this entire creation
